Try training a dog to clench a plush toy in his mouth. When you see him mouth a toy, give him a reward or treat and use a clicker. Train him in stages. The next step is to wait and let the dog pick up the toy. When he does this, click and reward. It is important to only reward him again if he picks up the toy with his mouth on his own.
