American Foxhound

The American Foxhound bears a striking resemblance to the body build of a Beagle. An American Foxhound’s height is between 21 and 25 inches and the weight ranges from 65 to 75 pounds. This breeds athletic sleek body is covered with a smooth coat of tan and white, red and white or black red and white combination. The admirable speed of this excellent hunter is attributed to the well boned strong legs.

The American Foxhound is a very old breed – older than America, the country it was named after. The breed originated from the English dogs that were brought to the New World in 1650 by Robert Brooke.
